At Roger Lewis, we bring together more than three decades of expertise in British upholstery and precision joinery from our manufacturing facility in Somerset. Our heritage lies in traditional upholstery techniques, honed through generations of craftspeople, combined with the precision of modern technology to create furniture of exceptional quality, durability and style. We specialise in soft furnishings and bespoke upholstered furniture. We are looking for an Apprentice upholsterer to join the team. Do you want to learn how to produce bespoke upholstered furniture and become a skilled trades person.
Learn how to upholster bespoke items of contemporary furniture
Learn upholstery techniques, which covers the use of traditional skills, combined with the latest techniques which are used in contemporary upholstery manufacturing
Lean how to sew upholstery components
Learn how to hand cut fabric
Learn how to pattern match fabric
Learn how to work with different materials such as leather and cottons
Learn a practical trade within a growing industry
Become a valued member of a friendly team working in a modern manufacturer
Comprehensive Modern Upholstery Training:
During your Standard Level 2 Modern Upholstery apprenticeship programme you will receive training both off and on the job. You will be trained at the employer within the workplace and also at WEBS Training in Nottingham on a block basis for 4 days at a time every 10 weeks.
You will learn the underpinning knowledge that runs alongside your practical elements of the training. WEBS Training aim to build on the skills you already have so you reach your full potential both personally and professionally.
Training will be provided in all areas of Modern Upholstery to ensure you can create practical and bespoke furniture using both traditional and modern techniques and materials to produce aesthetically pleasing and fit for purpose products.

Qualifications
GCSE or equivalent in English (Grade C/4) - desirable
GCSE or equivalent in Maths (Grade C/4) - desirable
If you have already achieved GCSE maths and English at Grade 4/C or above or have equivalent qualification you will be exempt from undertaking Functional Skills, however English and maths support will be provided for all apprentices throughout the length of their programme.
Pay: £8 per hr
Schedule:
Day shift 40 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm

Historically WEBS has specialised in the delivery of Furniture Manufacturing training and apprenticeships but more recently has begun to expand provision across business service support, offering a breadth of scope to employers and learners. Provision is currently offered at its Beeston site and/or on employer premises.
